Gangs of New York Gangs of New York (2002)
drama / historical / thriller
Producer: Martin Scorsese
Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Day-Lewis, Cameron Diaz, Jim Broadbent, John Si Reilly
Our journey through the universe of Gopnik begins with an epic historical saga Martina Scorsese about New York during the Civil War, where a young Irish criminal Amsterdam Wallon (Leonardo DiCaprio) tries to take revenge on the murderer of his father (Daniel Day-Lewis) and become the king of the urban underworld. Of course, in the actor's plan, Dee-Lewis made DiCaprio like a tortoise god. But the clearer is the contrast between a real criminal authority and an upstart who can climb the throne, but who is still too early to sit there. Perhaps, that's why the film ends with the revenge of the protagonist, and not his full triumph.
